Winok

A wooden shelf at Winok lined with cream coffee bags labelled as filter roasts from Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya and Ethiopia

Winok is a Schaerbeek coffee bar with its own roastery, where small batches are roasted slowly on a refurbished Probat P12 from the 1960s. Beans are bought through the transparent importer This Side Up, filter roasts are kept lighter for fruit and terroir, and espresso roasts are developed longer for caramel, chocolate and nuts.

The bar sits on Avenue Louis Bertrand near Josaphat Park, with a sunny terrace, board games and coloring supplies for all ages, and a boutique next door stocked with beans and brewing gear. Wine, beer and a kitchen that runs through lunch round out the menu, and a free live concert plays every other week.
