Hinterland

Julien and Olivia run Hinterland as something closer to a neighborhood refuge than a straightforward coffee bar, an all day brunch and breakfast spot built around organic ingredients made fresh daily and eco friendly packaging for anything that leaves the counter. It sits about halfway down Chaussée de Charleroi in Saint Gilles, close enough to the Horta Museum that a stop here fits easily into an afternoon spent looking at the architecture nearby.

Exposed brick, a chalkboard menu running the length of the wall, and a glass pastry case up front give the room a lived in, unfussy feel. Vegan options run throughout the menu alongside the standard espresso list, and the vibe stays closer to a long breakfast than a quick espresso stop.
