Buddy Buddy

Matt Samra, from New Zealand, and Julien Gaucherot, from Brussels, started out grinding their own nut butters at home in 2019, both vegan and frustrated at how hard it was to find a good one in Belgium, before someone had the idea to stir it into coffee. What began as a kitchen experiment turned into what they call the world's first nut butter coffee bar when it opened in January 2020, a concept that has since expanded to Paris and New York with their nut butters now stocked in hundreds of retail locations internationally.

HOP Architects split the Brussels room into a white half and a pink half, the pink side built around a pink La Marzocco that does most of the visual work. Coffee, nut butter lattes, and the jars themselves are all sold here, and the shop keeps dog cookies on hand for anyone who walks in with company.
