Down a driveway off Elizabeth Street, or through a secret door at the back of a bookshop on Charlotte Street, sits a coffee grotto built inside what used to be a 1917 letterpress and printing works. The room still carries the bones of that trade: bare brick, worn penny tiles, and the original brass John Mills signage salvaged from the old print business, hung above three tandem grinders instead of typesetting cases.

There is no single house roaster here. Beans from Brisbane names like The Single Guys, Uncle Joe's and Coffee Supreme rotate through the machines, so the espresso and filter list shifts with whatever the baristas are currently pouring rather than settling on one blend. By early afternoon the coffee counter gives way to a bar service that runs into the evening most nights of the week, making this one of the few Brisbane addresses that functions as a genuine all day destination rather than a morning only stop.
