Pavement Coffeehouse (Newbury Street)

Pavement opened its first cafe in 2009 and has since grown to ten locations across Boston and Cambridge, most built into the ground floors of the same kind of brownstones and rowhouses the chain now serves coffee out of. The Newbury Street shop sits in a curved bay window storefront with a small brick patio out front, tucked below the building's stoop.
The coffee runs on the shop's own house roasted beans, the Daydream blend among them, but the reason regulars keep coming back sits right next to the espresso machine: handmade bagels and bagel sandwiches that built Pavement's reputation well before the coffee did.
