1369 Coffee House (Inman Square)

The 1369 Coffee House storefront with its sign, neon Espresso window and hanging flower baskets over sidewalk benches

1369 Coffee House has anchored Inman Square since 1993, picking up a run of local best-coffeehouse recognitions along the way. A second location later opened in Central Square, but the corner shop on Cambridge Street, with its sidewalk tables and a name borrowed straight from its own street address, is the original.

The menu keeps to a house blend, a rotating seasonal drink and a case of baked goods rather than chasing every filter method or single origin trend, which is part of why it still reads as a neighborhood hangout rather than a laptop farm. Some proceeds from seasonal specialty drinks go to local causes, most recently classical music programs.
