Café Piha

Café Piha opened in February 2017 inside a former printing house on rue des Ayres in the Saint Michel quarter, taking its name from a surf beach near Auckland that its founders kept returning to on trips home to New Zealand. Wood beams, tiled floors and plants keep the old building's character intact, and behind the counter the shop also serves as France's distributor and installer for the German roasting machine maker Probat, tying it closely to the country's wider roaster community.

The bean list splits into three ranges: an organic Bio range with a clean, classic profile, a Café de Ferme selection built around fruitier, floral farm lots, and rotating Micro and Nano Lot beans roasted in small batches for anyone chasing something rarer. Filter methods sit alongside the espresso menu, and the kitchen adds cold pressed juices and a pastry case to a room that also runs cupping workshops and sells its own roasted beans and brewing equipment. There is no wifi and no television, a deliberate choice that keeps the tables built around conversation.
