Five Elephant

Known nearly as much for its cheesecake as for its coffee, which is unusual for a shop that also runs its own micro roastery a few streets away on Glogauer Straße. Kreuzberg itself has a long history as one of Berlin's most multicultural, countercultural districts, and Five Elephant's mix of serious coffee and a genuinely famous bakery case fits a neighborhood that's never been precious about mixing things that don't obviously belong together. A 2025 renovation opened the room up considerably, adding a dedicated filter bar and a lot more daylight than the original fit out had, without losing the apartment plain feel that set it apart from more industrial styled competitors.
Wood and steel furniture keeps things closer to a well furnished living room than a showroom. Bagged beans and merchandise are sold at the counter alongside the bakery case, and there's usually a line for both by mid morning on weekends.
