19grams Boxi

A pastel colored 19grams Little Flower retail coffee bag styled against a blue sky and yellow backdrop

This corner near Boxhagener Platz, formerly Tres Cabezas, is where Sascha Spittel and Robert Stock started 19grams as a single espresso bar in 2002, a location Stock has admitted he thought was a bad bet at the time given how rough Ostkreuz still was. Two decades on it has grown into a roastery running four Berlin cafes plus a barista training lab at Alexanderplatz, direct trade relationships with named producers, and a monthly Rockstar subscription that puts one standout microlot, a recent one was a Colombian Ombligon variety from grower Nestor Lasso, through the roaster and into customers' hands.

Regulars describe it as one of the more complete specialty operations in the city, a shop that roasts, retails, and trains baristas rather than just pulling shots, and the cafe itself keeps a laptop friendly area alongside its cake case and seasonal sandwich menu. The brand's playful streak shows up every year in a widely covered advent calendar and in seasonal bag redesigns that keep the same roast inside a new look.
