Pygmalion Økocafe & Galleri

Paintings of varying sizes hung on exposed brick and wood walls in the Pygmalion gallery room

Pygmalion pairs an organic, locally sourced kitchen with a rotating contemporary art gallery and occasional live music, run out of a cozy room near the fish market and tourist information office in Vågen. The eco minded kitchen leans into wholesome, breakfast and lunch focused cooking, Norwegian pancakes and vegetable forward wok dishes among the regulars alongside sandwiches built for the same slower, seated pace as the art on the walls.

Long daily hours, open from morning into late evening, make it as easy a stop for an early coffee as a dinner spot once the galleries have closed for the night, the artwork rotating often enough that regulars find something new most visits.
