Kaffemisjonen

Jan Richter Lorentzen opened Kaffemisjonen in 2007 to get Bergen talking about coffee origin at a time when that conversation barely existed in Norway, later going on to win the country's 2015 Cup Tasters Championship himself. The shop isn't a roaster in its own right, instead running its espresso and filter bar on rotating beans from names like Tim Wendelboe and Supreme Roastworks, chosen through regular blind cuppings by the staff.

The Korskirkeallmenningen room stays compact and unpretentious, closer to a no fuss espresso bar than a showroom, with a local reputation for pouring one of the better flat whites in the city. A second, sunnier location called Blom opened on Nygårdshøyden in 2011 to bring the same cuppings led approach to the university side of town.
