Café das Amoras

Felipe Brazza and Gabriela Mendonca founded this shop in 2012, growing it out of the coffee farming background of Gabriela's mother, Dona Maria Silva, who had already spent around thirty five years growing coffee by the time the couple met in 2009. Felipe, a barista, producer and head roaster, started roasting on a small Probatino machine in 2013 before moving the operation into a dedicated commercial space in Savassi, while Gabriela earned her certification as a Q Grader.

The business controls the full chain itself, from planting and harvest through processing and roasting, drawing on two family owned farms, Fazenda das Amoras in Nepomuceno and Fazenda Estancia Santa Luzia in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, and also supplies beans wholesale to other cafes and restaurants around Belo Horizonte.
