Xiloteca Coffee + Botiga

Xiloteca Coffee + Botiga calls itself a shop with coffee rather than a café with a shop attached. Alexei Morales, originally from Cuba, and Cameron Rosenbrock, an Australian who worked in Melbourne venues before moving to Spain, built it around a tiny takeaway bar in El Born.

Behind the bar, shelves carry ceramics, soaps, natural wine and tinned fish. The coffee comes from roasters in Zaragoza, usually two single origins for espresso plus a decaf. Look for the hand painted good coffee sign on the corner of Carrer dels Assaonadors. There are only a few stools, so most people take their cup to go and browse the shelves while it is made.
