Patika Coffee

Nick Krupa and Andy Wigginton started Patika in 2010 as a small coffee cart in downtown Austin, taking the name from the Turkish word for footpath, a nod to Istanbul's early coffeehouses that relocated into hidden alleys to survive. The brand's best known brick and mortar, a revived 1940s building on South Lamar, closed permanently in October 2024 after a decade, a casualty of lease expiration and South Lamar corridor construction rather than any falloff in the coffee itself.

This airy lobby cafe inside the 100 Congress building is Patika's current Austin outpost, pouring beans from sister roasting company Superthing Coffee Roasters, which the Patika team spun off in 2019 with former Patika managers Kyle and Tony Smith. It keeps the original cart's downtown roots alive even as the brand's more famous South Lamar era has closed.
