Jo's Coffee

Hotelier Liz Lambert and her brother Lou opened Jo's in 1999 right beside the Hotel San Jose, a property Lambert also redeveloped, and the shop has since become a South Congress landmark in its own right. It brews La Colombe coffee rather than roasting its own, and its best known drink, the Iced Turbo, layers coffee, espresso, hazelnut, chocolate and cream into a genuine cult favorite.

The shop's mint green side wall carries Austin's famous I love you so much mural, painted in 2010, which now draws as many visitors as the coffee itself. A covered patio with fans, misters and heaters keeps the outdoor seating usable through most of the Texas year.
