Houndstooth Coffee Frost Downtown

Frost Downtown was the second Houndstooth cafe, opened on the corner of Congress Avenue and 4th Street at the foot of the Frost Bank Tower. It sits a short walk from the Capitol, the Convention Center and Lady Bird Lake, so its customers range from office workers on their morning route to visitors passing through the center of the city.
Houndstooth began on North Lamar in 2010 with a focus on a clear, unfussy espresso program, and the downtown cafe carries the same approach, with espresso, filter coffee and cold brew alongside pastries and a short drinks menu. The space is roomy by downtown standards and becomes a busy refuge during the South by Southwest festival each March. It opens early on weekdays and a little later at weekends.
