Cherrywood Coffeehouse

New Orleans natives Ryan and Jen Marks opened Cherrywood in February 2009, Ryan having had his eye on the property since moving into the adjacent French Place neighborhood in the late 1990s. The coffee runs on Fair Trade Ruta Maya beans, and the New Orleans influence shows up more in the food, a menu of pastries, tacos, sandwiches and burgers served alongside beer and wine.

The tree covered back patio is as much the point as the coffee, doubling as a live music venue and hosting yoga classes and a comedy open mic on a regular rotation. It reads as a genuine neighborhood living room rather than a work cafe that happens to have outdoor seating.
