Caffé Medici

Michael and Alison Vaclav opened this West Lynn cafe in September 2006 as their first shop, choosing the Clarksville neighborhood for what the brand still calls the neighborhood's living room, a comfortable, well worn room built for lingering rather than a quick counter stop. Company materials bill it as Austin's original specialty coffee shop, and the Vaclavs later expanded to several more Austin locations.

What started as a single storefront now operates as its own roaster under the Medici Roasting name, supplying this original West Lynn room along with the rest of the company's cafes. A patio with bar height seating keeps the original shop's outdoor space in near constant use.
