East Pole Coffee Co. Poncey-Highland

East Pole Coffee Co. opened its second shop in June 2022 at 676 North Highland Avenue in Poncey-Highland, taking over a corner that had earlier housed San Francisco Coffee Roasting Company. Unlike the flagship at Armour Yards, this one is strictly a coffee bar with no roastery on site, and the beans on its shelf are the same ones roasted at the flagship.

The company started around 2015, when friends Jared Karr, Jules Tompkins and Matt Chesla began roasting in a Grant Park garage, and its everyday blend, Traffic, anchors a list of seasonal single origins that includes Cipres and Anasora Natural. The shop opens at seven on weekdays and eight on weekends and closes at six each evening.
