East Pole Coffee Co. Armour Yards

East Pole Coffee Co. started around 2015, when Jared Karr and two friends began roasting in a friend's Grant Park garage, and the name nods to Indonesia, where Karr had worked with coffee farmers. The flagship opened on 11 September 2017 on the Armour Yards campus, a roughly two thousand square foot roastery cafe finished in walnut and brass.
The roaster sits behind a glass partition in full view of the room, and the bags on sale include the everyday Traffic blend and seasonal single origins such as Cipres and Anasora Natural. Out front, a white facade carries one word, coffee, above a planted courtyard with curved red wooden benches. Hours run from seven in the morning on weekdays and eight on weekends until six each evening.
