The Underdog

The Underdog started roasting in 2011, years before specialty coffee had much of an audience in Athens, before opening this multi story Thissio flagship in 2015 as a combined roastery, cafe, and beer bar. The team's competition record carries real weight in the city, at least three World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship winners and a runner up finish have come through the counter.

A warehouse feel runs through the space, exposed brick and an airy multi level layout built around an all day brunch menu that runs alongside the coffee program. A courtyard adds outdoor seating to a room already spacious by Athens standards, drawing a crowd that treats it as a full afternoon stop rather than a quick espresso break.
