YUSU

The curved white brick counter at YUSU with a La Marzocco machine, green menu boards on a white wall and a fiddle leaf fig by the window

YUSU calls itself the new coffee culture, and the room backs it up: a bright corner space with a curved white brick counter, a La Marzocco machine, a fiddle leaf fig by the window and bags of beans on a wall shelf. The name comes from Surinamese and means serious, a nod to how seriously the coffee is taken without making the room feel stiff.

Espresso and filter come from a specialty roaster in Amsterdam, served with oat, soy or coconut milk if you like. Local ceramicists, designers and creative groups are given space to show and sell their work, a long table suits settling in, and a terrace out front catches the sun.
