Friedhats FUKU Café

Lex Wenneker, runner up at the 2018 World Barista Championship in Amsterdam, and New Zealander Dylan Sedgwick founded Friedhats Coffee Roasters in 2016, then opened this Bos en Lommer café in September 2018 as the first specialty coffee shop in a neighborhood better known for its diversity than its espresso. Every bag is roasted in house, including experimental process lots and the occasional Gesha, the kind of beans that built Friedhats' reputation well beyond the Netherlands.

A retro vending machine by the door dispenses bottled Friedhats coffee for anyone in a hurry, and monthly natural wine nights turn the room into something closer to a bar once the espresso machine winds down. A newly built deck extends the seating outside for anyone who wants it.
