Five Ways Coffee Roasters (Boerhaaveplein)

The east side cafe of Five Ways, set on Boerhaaveplein, is a big airy room with grey plaster walls, tall windows and a wide oak fronted counter, where a black espresso machine and a pair of grinders take pride of place. A menu board covers espresso and milk drinks, filter, signature drinks, tea, matcha and a short list of natural wine.

It works as a full day stop, with bread and pastries at the counter and a kitchen that turns out brunch plates and, from midday at the weekend, a beef burger on an English muffin. Cold local beer is on tap, the music is good, and a heated outdoor patio extends the space when the weather is cool.
