Espressofabriek

The high wood slatted interior of Espressofabriek with the bar and espresso machine in the back, round tables and black chairs in front and a long communal table along the wall

One of the older names in Amsterdam specialty coffee, Espressofabriek opened in 2005 and sits inside the Westergasfabriek, the former gas works turned cultural park beside Westerpark. The room is tall and airy, with a wood slatted ceiling and wall, a generous bar and a display of the house coffees for sale.

Beans are roasted in house once a week and chosen by cupping from two importers the roastery trusts for responsible sourcing, with the shelves currently running single origin espresso lots from Brazil, Guatemala and Colombia, a decaf and a filter roast from Burundi. The same roasting supplies the other Espressofabriek cafés around the city, and free wifi has been part of the room since the early days.
