Bocca Coffee

Founded in 2001 by brothers Menno and Tewis Simons after Menno started roasting on a small Probat in an Amsterdam garage following an organic sesame buying trip to Ethiopia, Bocca was the first Dutch specialty operation to control its own chain from sourcing to serving. Sister company Trabocca, founded in 2003, still handles green coffee importing and supplies the vast majority of Bocca's beans, with producer projects in Ethiopia, Cabo Verde, and Indonesia.

Roasting itself now happens at a dedicated facility and training center in Dronten, roughly 80 kilometers from the city, on refurbished cast iron Probats dating to 1963, with this bright, plant filled Kerkstraat address serving as the Amsterdam showroom, cafe, and retail flagship rather than a working roastery. Bocca was named Best Artisan Roaster in Europe at the 2014 European Coffee Awards and is B Corp certified. Bagged beans across espresso, filter, and decaf are sold on site.
