Half record shop, half coffee bar, Black Gold fills the ground floor of a brick building on Korte Koningsstraat near Nieuwmarkt. Vinyl crates line the front room, the counter starts about halfway back with a turntable at the far end, and the space opens into a bright back section with a cosy nook of benches and shelves.

House coffee comes from White Label, the Amsterdam roaster, with a second grinder given over to rotating guest roasters. Filter arrives by V60, AeroPress or batch brew, the espresso machine is a two group La Marzocco in plain view, and cakes and pastries sit beside it. A good stop for a slow flat white and a browse through the records.
