Badeta Koffiebranders

Stacked burlap sacks of green coffee at origin

Tomas Verlaan and Joost Hak founded Badeta in 2014, an idea the pair trace back to surf trips through coffee growing countries and the direct relationships they built with producers along the way. The Watergraafsmeer location, in a neighborhood otherwise thin on specialty coffee, roasts small batches twice a week and experiments with fermentation processing rather than sticking to standard washed and natural lots.

The kitchen runs fully vegetarian with numerous vegan options on a menu built for a full breakfast or lunch stop rather than a quick espresso, and the shop's original De Pijp location, better known among longtime regulars, is currently closed, leaving Watergraafsmeer and a Hoofddorp roastery as the brand's active sites.
