A Sense of Place (ASOP)

The long bar and a bright room with tall windows, large plants, round tables and wooden chairs at A Sense of Place

A Sense of Place treats coffee the way a listening room treats a record, with every choice made on purpose. It sits at the top of the Jordaan inside a natural wine shop, and the menu changes every week around a seasonal guest roaster that is not poured anywhere else in the city, with drinks built around how each coffee was grown and processed.

The flagship is an omakase, a multi course coffee tasting designed to engage every sense, offered by reservation on Sunday mornings before the doors open to everyone at half past eleven. A long communal table and smaller tables fill the room, music is part of the plan, and a La Marzocco machine anchors the bar beside wines chosen for their sense of place.
